I recently returned from a mesmerizing trip to Iceland (if you ever get a chance to go there, do go!)
We began in Reykjavik, and traveled for 10 days by van. During our drive across the land of fire and ice, I drew some silly characters based on the varied personalities and happenings of our band of bold travelers (frá Bandarikjunum). These drawings were created in random coffee shops and gas stations throughout the northern and western parts of Iceland while sipping coffee, waiting for people to wake up in the morning, and whilst biding time waiting for our South Park-themed car (from a rental company called none other than Kuku Campers) to receive some repair in the small village of Blönduós.
Bob the Topastorian and Ting the Viking
Caity the Courageous Cook
David the Waterfall Whisperer
Kyra the Gate Keeper
Chad the Prancing One, and Warren the Wise
The circular sweater pattern depicted on some of the characters is based off of the Icelandic Lopapyesa design. We saw many locals wearing these sweaters, and they are crafted wool from the herds and herds of sheep that roam the land 🙂
